PRIVATE INSTRUCTION WITH ERIN KEANE

Private instruction is available by request at Erin Keane’s cozy home studio in the Blue Ridge Mountains outside of Asheville, North Carolina. Curriculum will be custom made for you in Erin’s expertise of photography, encaustic, and bookbinding. Lessons are $100 / hour with a 3-hour minimum, and many topics may be suitable for a full day or multiple day lesson. Some curriculum may be suitable for small group lessons, please inquire about group rates.

PHOTOGRAPHY + ENCAUSTIC + BOOKBINDING

Possible topics include: Photography with encaustic; Photography transfer with encaustic; Encaustic monotype printmaking; Encaustic collage journals; Paired Needle Coptic binding; Intermediate binding with Coptic Weave, Coptic Greek; Longstitch Library of Stitches with Enclosures and Embellishments; Sculptural books with Dos-a-Dos, Gatefold, Double Book; Star Origami Book Ornaments; Visual Journaling with photography transfer and mixed media.

INFORMATION ABOUT MY COZY HOME STUDIO

My cozy home studio is located in Candler (“West West Asheville”) and creative wonderfulness happens in the middle of my living room. My house is quiet and serene, perfect for private instruction. My friendly partner John may be working from his home office, my friendly dog Dezi may be chilling in the back room, and my friendly cat Casper may be chilling wherever she pleases. We have wood stove in the winter time and open windows in the summer time.

REGISTRATION POLICY

Together we will design curriculum to fulfill your dreams in photography, encaustic, and bookbinding. Please feel welcome to share your level of previous experience and special wishes or needs so that I can be the best instructor possible. At that time we will make arrangements for date, time, and materials. Your tuition payment is your reservation for class and can be made via cash, check, or online invoice. RESCHEDULING POLICY

Due to the custom nature of private instruction, classes are scheduled in advance to allow time for curriculum planning and material preparation. Once a date is reserved, it is set on the calendar and cannot be rescheduled. Exceptions are inclement weather, illness, or emergency, in which case reasonable efforts will be made to reschedule. If class is unable to be rescheduled, tuition payment may be credited toward artwork available at Erin Keane Studio.

CANCELLATION POLICY

For cancellations 30 days or less before class begins, tuition is nonrefundable. For cancellations more than 30 days before class, 75% tuition is refunded with 25% tuition nonrefundable as a cancellation fee. No refunds will be given for no-shows or withdrawals after class has begun regardless of the reason. If making travel arrangements, please consider travel insurance and note that Erin Keane Studio is not responsible for nonrefundable travel expenses.

PAINTING WITH FIRE CLASSES

If you enjoy online classes or wish to have visual reference material to reinforce our instructional time together, I published two workshops with the encaustic masterclass Painting With Fire, Volume 1. The first class is Light Is Elastic where I teach photography transfer with encaustic; the second class is Beeswax Bound where I teach encaustic journals with Coptic binding. Each class takes you slowly through the instructional content with up close visuals.

Painting With Fire is a year-long course that is devoted to studying best practices in encaustic painting. There are 26 world renowned encaustic instructors and 52 lessons beginner through advanced.
